A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I first went to college as a geology major (constant pockets full of rocks as a kid) at the University of South Dakota only to find that there were no jobs available in field geology. Round two was the design curriculum at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science - now part of Thomas Jefferson University. I knew Bob Stafford, the Dean of the department, as I spent weekends doing pottery, silversmithing, and copper enameling taught by Bob’s wife. After some courses in cloth structure and weave formation and technology, Bob turned me loose on a handloom with a list of projects to do. I loved it. He asked for five projects, I turned in eight. At Bob’s recommendation, I got a part time job at a local upholstery fabric mill during my senior year and had designs sold in the industry before graduation. At graduation, I was given the top design award. I went to work right away and am so fortunate that I couldn’t wait to get to the office each morning. I spent most of my career doing top end interior designer and architectural fabrics. Nose bleed stuff price wise. We did reproduction work for Colonial Williamsburg, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, and many hotels and public buildings.

Early on, I feared the well would run dry - that the ideas would stop flowing - but 55+ years later, they have not. I find that emotionally I have to make things to be whole. Hence the glass fusing classes and what you see here on this website.
